Encaustic Painting – Hot and Cold Wax

Exploring the ancient art of working with beeswax and oil paint, this workshop will give you the skills and confidence to be able to set up work work with the medium at home.

Beginning by learning the traditional process from preparing a surface with molten beeswax, to making a solvent and beeswax paste, to building up layers of paint, we will then go on to explore more contemporary ways of using the medium.

Over the course of the day you will make several sample pieces, a pot of paste and make a series of small finished works.
