Gardens and Natural Forms
5 Week Course

Thursday 9.30am – 3pm
12th, 19th, 26th Sept, 3rd, 10th Oct 2024

Tutor – Robin Wu

The garden at the end of summer offers up an array of visual delights – late blooms, riots of seed heads, skeletons and structure, a seductive palette of colour. Working out in the garden and in the studio this course will explore a mixed media approach to drawing plants and the garden landscape at the turn of the season.

Working in drawing, print and paint – there will be a focus on how to push, mix and exploit your materials. We will look at ways to tackle the personality of individual plant forms but also the chaos of the ‘whole orchestra’ of plant forms together.  We will also consider working in more controlled and expressive modes -switching between careful observation and more responsive ways of working.

We will look at a variety of artists, contemporary and historical, that work with botanical forms and the garden landscape.
